The introductory boss of How to Fish. Teaches the fundamental combat loop: summon via specific junk bait, kite onto land, target weak points, and preserve the boss trophy for progression.

Critical Mistakes to Avoid & Quest Warnings

  • ⚠️CRITICAL: DO NOT SELL THE SPIDER CRAB SHELL! The ferry captain requires this shell to repair the vessel and unlock travel to Forest Island.
  • ⚠️Do NOT spend $500 on the 'Boat Key' from the harbor scammer! Handing over the Spider Crab Shell to Captain Barnaby repairs the ship for 100% FREE.
  • ⚠️Do not fight in the water; always lure the crab onto the dry sandy beach to prevent drowning or movement penalties.
  • ⚠️Don't attack with an unsharpened knife (Tier 1) as hits will bounce off with 90% damage reduction.

How to Summon Giant Spider Crab

Cast your rod equipped with the Empty Beer Can into the deep abyss directly underneath the broken wooden pier by the lighthouse. Note: If you lose your beer can, a new one respawns daily at 06:00 behind the lighthouse trash bins.

Combat Phases & Tactics Breakdown

Tidal Breach (100% - 60% HP)

The Spider Crab emerges from the pier pilings, scuttling across the sand and attempting heavy claw pinches.

Enemy Attacks to Watch For:
  • Double Claw Slam (High frontal damage, 1s windup)
  • Sand Spray (Blinds screen for 1.5s)
Tactical Counter:Sprint in circles around its rear legs. Slash its soft underbelly joints with your sharpened knife.

Bubble Barrage & Enrage (60% - 0% HP)

Enters an enraged red state, spitting pressurized bubble clusters that track player movement.

Enemy Attacks to Watch For:
  • Pressurized Bubble Mortars (AOE splash damage)
  • Rapid Charge (Dashes straight at player, destructive hitbox)
Tactical Counter:Step behind lighthouse boulders to pop the bubbles safely. Use your pistol to score critical hits on its exposed glowing eyes.
