The “Bean” Achievement: Beat the Game in Under 1 Hour
The most challenging achievement in How to Fish requires completing the entire story campaign from intro crash to final credits in under 60 minutes.
- 1.Forage 3 Clams → Sharpen Knife to Tier 2 → Slay Spider Crab.
- 2.Rush Forest → Buy Pull Back Rod & SMG immediately.
- 3.Catch 2 Guppies → Trade for Carrot Bait → Defeat Pufferfish.
- 4.Snipe Tuna & Albatross → Rush Volcano → Finish Whale with Dynamite/RPG.

Getting Started
EasyCatch and kill your very first creature in How to Fish.
Unlock: Hook any Coastal Minnow on Starter Island and slash it with your knife.
Unmissable; triggers during the first 60 seconds of gameplay.
Who Stole My Beer?
EasyFind an Empty Beer Can on the shoreline and return it to Old Pete or cast it.
Unlock: Pick up the beer can on the east beach of Lighthouse Island.
Save it to summon the Spider Crab boss under the pier.
Razor Edge
EasyUpgrade your Starter Knife to Tier 2 at the Lighthouse anvil.
Unlock: Interact with the outdoor blacksmith anvil with $30 or a Whetstone.
Crucial step before fighting the King Crab or Spider Crab.
Crustacean Calamity
EasyDefeat the Giant Spider Crab on Starter Island.
Unlock: Summon the Spider Crab with the Empty Beer Can and defeat it.
DO NOT SELL the dropped Ancient Chitin Shell to the shop!
The Pull-Back Revolution
EasyPurchase the Pull Back Rod on Forest Island.
Unlock: Buy the Pull Back Rod from the Forest Island camp shop for $250.
This rod replaces your starter rod for the remainder of the game.
Sawmill Slayer
MediumDefeat The Old Pike in the Sunken Sawmill Lake.
Unlock: Fish with Stinky Cheese in the center whirlpool and defeat the Pike.
Keep the Pike Sawjaw trophy to give to Lumberjack Sven.
Drip (Shiny Hunter)
MediumCatch and harvest a rare shiny/prismatic fish variant.
Unlock: Use the Glitter Spinner lure in daylight on Forest or Desert Island.
Prismatic Rainbow Trout behind the Forest waterfall has the highest shiny chance.
Aerial Executioner
MediumAchieve a 5.0x or higher Killscore multiplier on a single catch.
Unlock: Yank a fish 10m high with the Pull Back Rod, perform a 360 spin, and kill it with a gun before it hits the ground.
Use the SMG or Shotgun on Coastal Sea Bass for easiest air tracking.
Poison Deflator
HardDefeat the Colossal Spiny Pufferfish on Desert Island.
Unlock: Trade guppies for Carrot Bait with Tourist Terry and defeat the Pufferfish.
Hold fire during spike armor phase; burst fire during deflation.
Apex Aviator
HardDefeat The Apex Albatross atop Rocks Island.
Unlock: Place a Bluefin Tuna carcass on the cliff altar and shoot down the Albatross.
Use the Heavy Sniper Rifle and take cover behind solid pillars.
Master Angler & Chef
MediumCook 20 different fish species on campfires across the 5 islands.
Unlock: Place freshly caught fish directly onto any lit campfire before selling.
Cooked fish sell for an extra 1.5x base value multiplier and restore 50% more hunger.
End of the Deep
ExtremeDefeat the Mutated Bowhead Whale in the Volcano Caldera.
Unlock: Summon with Nuclear Glow Lure and destroy all 3 crystal nodes to finish the story.
Unlock Sandbox Freeplay mode and story completion stats upon defeat.
Bean (The 1-Hour Speedrun)
ExtremeComplete the entire game from beach crash to final credits in under 60 minutes.
Unlock: Start a NEW dedicated save file. Rush exclusively main quests and bosses.
Skip non-essential fishing. Route: Clams -> Anvil Knife -> Spider Crab -> Buy Pull Back Rod & SMG -> Guppies -> Pufferfish -> Tuna -> Albatross Sniper -> Volcano Whale with Dynamite/RPG rush.
Master of the Encyclopedia
HardRegister 100% of all fish, crustacean, and boss entries in your Tab Encyclopedia.
Unlock: Catch every species listed across all 5 islands with their respective baits.
Check our Fish & Bait Database to find missing species locations and required lures.
360 No-Scope Sea God
HardKill a hooked airborne apex predator using a Sniper Rifle without aiming down sights.
Unlock: Fling a Tiger Shark or Bluefin Tuna into the sky, spin 360°, and hip-fire with the Sniper Rifle.
Equip a Laser Sight attachment to show the center hip-fire dot.
Mine! Mine! Mine!
EasyShoot down a thief seagull in mid-air right as it attempts to snatch your fish.
Unlock: Leave a dead fish on the beach, wait for a seagull to dive, and shoot it with any firearm.
Unlocks the 'Feather Hat' cosmetic in the lighthouse wardrobe.
Master Handyman
MediumFully upgrade 5 different weapons with all available attachments.
Unlock: Purchase all scopes, extended mags, compensators, and lasers across island armories.
Best done in late game or sandbox mode when cash is plentiful.
Double Down
MediumWin 5 consecutive rounds at the Desert Oasis roulette wheel table.
Unlock: Play the minigame at the Desert cantina, or use the optional Always Win Roulette mod.
Bet small initial sums on black/red to streak wins safely.
Tycoon of the High Seas
MediumAccumulate a total career earnings of $100,000.
Unlock: Stack high airborne multipliers on Volcano and Rocks island apex fish.
A single Mutated Whale with 10x multiplier yields $50,000+.
Cryo Survivor
MediumSurvive for 5 minutes inside the Volcano Caldera lava zone without touching water.
Unlock: Drink Cryo Elixir and leap between basalt pillars.
Craft 3 Cryo Draughts with Tariq on Desert Island first.
Better Together
EasyRevive a fallen fishing partner during any boss fight in Co-op multiplayer.
Unlock: Play with at least 1 friend and interact with their incapacitated character.
Co-op supports up to 8 players natively in the latest update.
Modern Fishing Techniques
EasyKill 5 or more fish simultaneously using a single stick of dynamite.
Unlock: Throw dynamite into a dense school of minnows or electric catfish.
Wait until low tide in Forest rapids for maximum fish density.
Hall of Trophies
MediumDeliver all 5 boss quest items to their respective NPCs across the archipelago.
Unlock: Progress through the full story without selling any boss relics.
Follow our Islands Walkthrough roadmap to ensure no trophies are lost.
Into the Trench
MediumReach the bottom of the Rocks Island Mariana trench without drowning.
Unlock: Purchase the Scuba Mask from Harpooner Finn and dive beneath the sea arch.
Watch out for bioluminescent Vampire Cuttlefish.
Fastest Rod in the West
MediumHook, reel in, and kill a fish in under 3 seconds total.
Unlock: Use Pull Back Rod with max tension reel on a shoreline minnow.
Pre-aim your knife and click immediately upon rod snap.
Walking Armory
HardHave every weapon category equipped in your inventory at the same time.
Unlock: Expand your inventory backpack to max slots and hold Knife, SMG, AR, Sniper, and RPG.
Buy the 12-slot Tactical Rucksack from Desert Outpost.
Archipelago Perfectionist
ExtremeUnlock all other 27 achievements in How to Fish.
Unlock: 100% Steam Completion (Platinum).
